Recent energy policy developments in the Netherlands

There are many evolutions worldwide on energy policy and on the use of nuclear energy. This lecture will give a status about past, present and future of nuclear worldwide, with a focus on nuclear policy in the EU.

The lecturer will also give an update on recent energy policy developments in the Netherlands under the government Rutte IV.

    After graduating in 1982 from the university of Twente, André Wakker got a PhD in science and mathematics from the university of Amsterdam in 1987. He worked for Shell International Chemicals from 1987 to 2001, when he then moved to the Energy Research Center of the Netherlands (ECN), first as head of fuel cell technology, then as head of renewable energy policy group where he also acted as policy advisor to the Dutch government in this matter. From 2010 to 2018, he worked as international business development manager for the Nuclear Research and Consultancy Group (NRG) in the Netherlands, working on subjects such as dismantling, nuclear safety and asset management. Since 2018, he is now independent business owner (Animo Consulting).
