General Assembly + Evening lecture: Nuclear perspectives in France

The current context in France is drawing attention of countries within the EU. France is indeed at a turning point for its nuclear industry. The lecture will give a status of general nuclear policy in France including the nuclear ecosystem, from EPR2 to the on-going “Grand Carénage”, passing by spent fuel and waste management, Gen IV and SMR’s. Differences between EPR and EPR2 will also be highlighted.  Finally, the solutions to cope with the industrial challenge behind the EPR2 will be discussed.

    Valérie Faudon

    Valérie Faudon is general delegate of the French Nuclear Energy Society (SFEN) and vice-chair of the European Nuclear Society (ENS). She teaches at Sciences-Po in the frame of the Public School of International Affairs. She was marketing director at AREVA from 2009 to 2012, after having performed different executive functions within HP and Alcatel-Lucent, in the US and in France. She graduated from the “Ecole Polytechnique”, the “Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées”, et the “Institut d’Etudes Politiques” from Paris. She is holder of a Master of Science from Stanford University in California.
