Nuclear Science Contest 2021

To reward young people that entered the fascinating world of nuclear science, the BNS – with the help of its Young Generation, the Belgian Nuclear Research Center SCK CEN and the Belgian Agency for Radioactive Waste and Enriched Fissile Materials ONDRAF/NIRAS – organizes since 2004 a yearly contest for outstanding works related to nuclear applications in the broadest sense of the term. The BNS-YG Scientific Contest is open not only for students to present their Master thesis but also to anyone (up to 36 years old included) who published a paper related to nuclear, whether it is at school, university or within a company.
This year, these 3 institutions will offer to the young generation a long-awaited physical event on the 25th of November, 2021 at the SCK CEN Lakehouse, that will also be virtually broadcasted. Awards will be granted for the best original works related to nuclear science, whether it is a Master Thesis, a PhD work or a scientific paper. The awards will be divided in the following categories:
- SCK CEN best Master Theses awards, for Master Theses prepared at the Belgian Nuclear Research Center
- BNS-YG nuclear science award, for the best scientific work in nuclear science and its applications
- BNS-YG award for scientific works related to nuclear medicine and biology studies related to nuclear science
- Due to a low number of submissions, the ONDRAF/NIRAS award on waste management will be postponed to next year
A competition based on the submitted posters will complement the awards above, while the same posters will be exhibited during the event at the Lakehouse.
