SUMMARY:Nuclear Science Contest 2025
DESCRIPTION:>>>>> Link to the photos of the award presentations and ceremony <<<<<\nThe BNS-YG Scientific Contest is an annual competition organized by the young generation network of the Belgian Nuclear Society. This event gives the stage to promising students and early-career professionals in the nuclear field. It’s all about showcasing the exceptional research that is being conducted in Belgium to an audience of peer nuclear professionals, members of the public, and all other nuclear enthusiasts.\nThe contest features three technical tracks: Nuclear Medicine and Biology, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning, and Nuclear Science and Applications. Contestants present their work to a jury of experts in a two-roundselection process.\nWinning laureates then have the chance to present their findings during an award ceremony that boosts their visibility and celebrates their achievements. The award ceremony will be held at Tabloo in the evening of November 27th, 2025. This award ceremony is open to all nuclear enthusiasts. The evening will be closed by a networking reception in which posters of all contributions will be showcased.\nLaureates of the 2025 edition\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nKateryna Poleshuk\nNuclear science & its applications 2nd prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nStrength of a circumferential WCuCuCrZr joint of ITER monoblock\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nFilip Colesar\nNuclear science & its applications 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nExtraction and speciation studies of new diglycolamides for selective recovery of americium by solvent extraction\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nIsabeau De Bie\nNuclear Medicine and Biology 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nNoradrenergic Agonistsas Treatment Opportunity of Radiation-Induced Cognitive Decline\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nLaura Kramp\nNuclear Medicine and Biology 2nd prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nMacrophage infiltration, polarization and activation after FLASH-RT in a TNBC model\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nEmile Mukiza\nNuclear Waste Management and Decommissioning 2nd prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nEffect of gamma radiation on early age strength and pore structure development of metakaolin-based geopolymer used for conditioning of cesium and strontium radioactive waste\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nVictor Casas Molina\nNuclear Waste Management and Decommissioning 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nBayesian optimization of a collimated HPGe detector model for Segmented Gamma Scanning\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nNatalia Thomas\nPoster session 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nStudies of cluster emission from heavy elements and its impact on the r-process\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nJasmijn Moonen\nSCK CEN Best Master thesis award 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\nCharacterizing emerging molecular targets in ovarian cancer for therapeutic targeting\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0\n \nBárbara Herráez Arribas\nSCK CEN Best Master thesis award 1st prize\n2.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.02.13.0.0Constrain the sintering of UO2 target through the usage of a dual-phase interpenetrating microstructure\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n2.13.0.0\n
